Phone System For Lunar Pioneers
Baltimore AP report outlines a Westinghouse designed lunar comms package for future manned missions. The system includes a 450 pound base unit with a dish antenna and two television cameras, powered by hydrazine, to relay telephony video and telemetry between earth and moon. It could be deployed by 1965 on Saturn C1B for a soft landing and survive lunar night, with the main dish tracking Earth automatically via infrared guidance.
