IMAGE Gets Funding for Youth Entrepreneurship Project
City Council approved a $4,000 refund for the San Antonio IMAGE Inc Youth Entrepreneurship Project despite staff objections. Operations manager John W. Rinehart cited higher per youth costs for IMAGE at $408 versus $195 for the city program and warned of cuts to other youth services to cover the funding. Project director Alex Alcocar argued the program reaches youths other programs miss. Vote tally was 5-2-1 with Teniente abstaining and Billa and Pyndus opposing.

Councilman Cisneros calls for Defense Mapping Agency continuation study
Henry Cisneros urged San Antonio officials to form a committee of business and government leaders to build a case for keeping the local Defense Mapping Agency branch open. An independent firm will prepare a socio economic impact report as 170 local jobs may be affected. Midwest Research Institute will conduct a week long onsite study starting next weekend. This is framed as a chance to present solid facts in the ongoing Kelly Field case. In Washington, President Ford signed stop gap legislation extending the Federal Energy Administration for one month to July 30.
