Legion Head To Visit San Antonio On Texas Tour
American Legion national commander Edward N Schelberling of Albany New York will visit San Antonio next Monday as part of a Texas tour after appearing before a joint session of the Texas legislature in Austin He will be met by local legionnaires and officials in New Braunfels and will tour business districts army posts and the Alamo where he will lay a wreath He will be hosted at a banquet Monday night in the Crystal ballroom of the Gunter hotel Schelberling a Union College graduate and former legal examiner in New York state served in the infantry during World War I including the Meuse Argonne offensive He has held state offices and runs a private law practice His wife will accompany him to San Antonio and they will stay at the Gunter hotel.
