The 15 wavefront forecast calls for a cold spell of only a few hours with freezing temperatures and frost inland, while the coast stays above freezing. A north wind will ease as temperature climbs within a day, returning to springlike conditions.
A blizzard and norther shut public schools in Dalhart Texas. Cold arrived after two weeks of summer warmth. Early morning temperature stood twenty below zero as one of the year’s worst storms raged, with reports extending into Kansas.
Northwest storm warnings were issued for the Texas coast and southeast warnings for the Louisiana coast at 8 30 a m by the local weather bureau. The disturbance center was over interior Texas moving eastward.
Six inches of snow blanket Childress and the Panhandle with a thirty mile gale drifting it into railroad cuts. Fort Worth & Denver train No. 7 is detained at Clarendon as telegraph wires fall north of town. Visibility is poor and cattle on ranges may suffer.
Strong winds sweep Amarillo and the Panhandle trapping traffic as snow drifts reach four to five feet in places. The storm began last night with near freezing temperatures and heavy blowing snow delaying streetcars and rail travel.
A severe norther strikes the Texas Panhandle from Texline to Amarillo, dropping about ten inches of snow. Fort Worth & Denver railroad reports heavy conditions and road closures as of February 20 in Wichita Falls.

Fennessy allegedly received 25 percent rebates on rail fares in exchange for advertising in a media published in multiple midwestern cities. The Vanderbilt lines named are Lake Shore Michigan Southern Cleveland Cincinnati Chicago and St Louis and Michigan Central.
Mrs. Winn Scott of Parsons Kansas was struck by a street car while crossing Avenue C near Fifth Street. She suffered scalp lacerations and brief unconsciousness and was taken to Santa Rosa hospital for treatment. condition reported not serious. She and husband M Scott had wintered in San Antonio and were staying at the Columbia hotel on Avenue C.
The Medina Townsite Company with a $25 000 charter filed in Austin as an incorporator group including C C Cresson Franz C Groos and T B Palfrey. The firm plans to promote townsites on Medina Irrigation lands though current plans are only preparatory.
An evening cold snap reaches San Antonio and surrounding areas with much colder temperatures including a freeze watch. Forecast calls for a Wednesday of continued fair skies and cooler conditions overall with turning frosty overnight eastward.
Observations at 80 am report temperatures from 16 to 40 degrees across cities including St Louis Chicago Milwaukee St Paul Kansas City New York Boston Washington. Winds northern to westerly with snow or rain likely tonight or Wednesday and continued stormy, cold conditions.
Statement says any claim that AP wire for Antonio is carried by newspapers other than the San Antonio Light is unfounded. The notice asserts no basis in fact for spreading the idea.

R Mounsey chairman of the English syndicate funding the San Antonio Rockport and Mexican railroad and associates may arrive in San Antonio tonight after inspecting the proposed route. The group traveled Rockport Gregory Taft Beeville for lunch and plans to leave for England February 22 to finalize construction plans. Roosevelt hints awaited at Columbus Ohio tomorrow. Col Lyon was the center of attention with Col Cecil Lyon and W W Cocks visiting the Menger Hotel.
The American Telegraph and Telephone company gained full control of Bell Telephone company of Missouri at the annual directors meeting in St Louis. The five insurgent St Louis directors were ousted. new directors include A N Bethel E D Nims H J Pettingill C H Wilson and F H Hamilton.
Col. Cecil Lyon will visit Houston next week amid political speculation over his crossing of the political Rubicon. The visit to the city where H. MacGregor leads Taft supporters in Texas remains largely unconfirmed as Lyon declines comment on potential outcomes.
Federal commissioner opens proceedings on whether Foulke E. Brandt who once served as Mortimer Shiff's valet was wrongly sentenced to thirty years for conspiracy in a house robbery. Brandt's lawyer asks to keep the hearing scandal free while Shiff's counsel opposes narrowing the scope. Commissioner Hand will decide later on the hearing's reach.
The House committee questioned the Agriculture Department about Everglades ties. J. O. Wright admitted knowledge in 1909 of alleged irregularities behind the recent dismissals of C. G. Elliott and A. D. Morehouse, while Secretary Wilson denied authoring a circulated land ad.
In Joplin Missouri on February 20 the state democratic convention cheered Chairman Shannon’s claim that Roosevelt and Taft can be defeated. Speaker Champ Clark was praised as “our intrepid leader” for uniting the party while denouncing the Republicans, the crowd erupting in applause.
Vasquista chiefs at Casas Grandes name General Pascual Orozco commander in chief as rebels concentrate for a march on Chihuahua and Mexico City. Leaders Campa Salazar Ponce Gomez Portillo sign the manifesto. Federal control returns to Juarez after arrests of Aristarco Carascoza and Captain Carlos Espino on riot and revolt charges. Rebels operate in hills near Juarez while federals hold Torreon.
Emilio Vasquez Gomez issued a new manifesto this morning claiming the Mexican government has failed to comply with The Plan. He cites extracts from El Pais and an American paper to support his assertions about the current regime.
Emilio Vasquez Gomez, leader of the Vasquista movement, says a proposal to General Orozco to head all Vasquista forces could hasten the downfall of the Madero government if he accepts. He has not met Orozco and has no evidence linking him to the revolution. American secret agents deny spying.
In Puebla a jailbreak led to the deaths of twenty seven inmates and guards after a violent clash with a cavalry force sent to assist. Twenty men escaped during the melee, a Mexican Herald report indicates.
Federal soldiers took Santa Maria in Morelos after a six hour clash. Zapatistas, who held the town, were driven out. One federal captain was killed and seven soldiers wounded. Rebel losses are not known.
Returning traveler says many people are leaving Mexico as carloads carry arms and weapons including guns pistols and cannons and implements of protection are being shipped out as well.
