Three Negroes Shot During Trial in Shelbyville
In Shelbyville Tennessee on February 19 three men Watt Geer Dave Neal and Dave Bomar charged with the murder of Special Officer S W Everson of the Nashville Chattanooga and St Louis railway were shot on the courthouse steps as the preliminary trial proceeded amid a packed courtroom. An angry mob claimed the evidence proved guilt and barred entry to the sheriff’s office though rumors spread that some were not dead.
