Nixon May Back Amendment on Age Vote

New York City Buses to Try Exact Fare Plan

The Transit Authority announces exact fare on buses starting September 1 to curb robberies and improve service. The plan, already in 22 cities, requires passengers to carry exact coins or tokens for a deposit into a strong box while drivers provide change if needed. In Washington DC the rollout cut robberies from 324 in the first six months of 1988 to two in the next eight months.
