Mrs Franklin D Roosevelt, wife of the president elect, urged women to take an interest in issues arising from repeal of the Eighteenth Amendment in an interview with the Yale Daily News. She said she favored repeal but was not satisfied with current conditions and wanted reform.
In Austin on February 7 the Texas House endorsed Frederick Charles Chabot of San Antonio for a minder in the U S diplomatic service under President elect Roosevelt. Chabot had prior service in the Wilson administration.

Neville Chamberlain, chancellor of the exchequer, refused to disclose the nature of the Anglo-American Webb negotiations in the House of Commons. He said the terms of the invitation to the British government to Washington in March and the acceptance had already been published and offered no further statement.
London reports indicate Britain plans an immediate settlement of the American war debt with a single payment of about one third of the next decade's total. Sir Ronald Lindsay, the British ambassador, will stay in the United States for three weeks as talks unfold. A flat payment might total between 1.25 and 8.0 billion dollars, financed by US bond issues to avoid a large immediate transfer.
Chicago dispatch reports Mrs. Susan West gave birth to a daughter weighing three pounds at birth. Officers John Ruge and Charles Gall transported mother and newborn to the hospital in a police patrol wagon after the unusual delivery.
The Thirty seventh district court grand jury no billed Minus Doolittle in the honor slaying of James McCoy also known as Jimmy McCoy. Doolittle claimed he killed McCoy on Honesto street at 6 p m January 31, saying the courts were too slow to indict McCoy for criminal attack on his sister Mary Doolittle last July. Doolittle and his sister lived at 426 Dunning Avenue. The grand jury returned 29 indictments and 70 no bills and referred five cases to the county attorney.
City officials vocally oppose a proposed DIL legislature measure allowing a 12 month moratorium on tax collections. Mayor C M Chambers warns of financial ruin and will travel to Austin to oppose the bill. City tax collector A B Stephens reports January delinquent taxes paid total 827998.38 with interest and penalties as San Antonio’s moratorium ended December 4.
A fast shooting housewife, Mrs. Lee Buchman, killed a man she says attacked her husband with a gun and blackjack. The wounded man, named Shorty William from Enid Oklahoma, said he and a companion hired from Washington to scare Guchanen.
A report from Paris states Capt. J A Mallison a British aviator attempting a speed flight from England to Brazil took off from Agadir Morocco for Villa Cisneros Rio de Janeiro at 9 35 a m Central Standard Time today.
Berlin reports a religious dispute over a state burial given to a Nazi storm trooper and a policeman from a Protestant cathedral. The Catholic bishop of Berlin filed a protest with Prussian authorities after a Catholic priest reportedly assisted at the funeral.
The Hague Feb 7 INS Dutch naval authorities in the East Indies will refuse negotiation with the mutineers who seized the battleship De Zeven Provincien and will force surrender if needed Destroyers cruisers submarines and airplanes are in pursuit Measures will be taken against treacherous influences and a ban on communication with military officials was issued amid anti government articles about the mutiny.
Batavia Java February 7 Dutch warships and a squadron of bombing planes closed in on the mutinous De Zeven Provincien as it heads toward Surabaya. The Java and destroyers Evertse and Pielhain joined the hunt while authorities barred press on warship moves. Mutineers proposed surrender in exchange for freedom and security for about 50 European prisoners aboard the vessel.
New York February 7 marriage reveal shows Josephine Dunn chair of street and stage wedging attorney Eugene John Lewis of Philadelphia on January 6 at Great Neck Long Island. She used the name Mary Dunn to mislead press. She says full name Mary Josephine Dunn. Camden New Jersey February 1 ad mitted to bars Fred Narrey arraigned for liquor possession asked to represent himself then sentenced to 100 days in jail. Oklahoma City February 7 Mrs Zora Schrighey seeks votes in district court petition accusing J B Searihy of chasing puppy love and neglecting the house.
In Berlin the National Socialist members of the Reichstag standing committee disrupted a session by shouting anti Semitic epithets at Paul Loebe though he was not Jewish. The disorder made it impossible to continue as Hans Frank and others condemned meeting under Loebe, claiming it insulted the state.
Corliss Palmer, once a Georgia beauty and estranged wife of Eugene V. Brewster, left a San Francisco hospital after a week of treatment for alcoholism. She had been taken from a hotel Tuesday night and booked for confinement at a detention hospital. Palmer planned to enter seclusion for at least two days and was undecided about whether to return to Los Angeles or go East.
Pope Pius XI blesses flyers who will pilot a squadron of planes across the North Atlantic to Chicago this spring possibly around the world. Blessing conveyed by Bishop Grosseto during a visit to the aviation school at Orbetello airport where cadets under Gen Tito Balbo train in formation flying.
