Pan American Conference Ends With Solidarity Test Warning
United States Secretary Hull sailed home from the Pan American conference in Lima after warning the 21 republics to stand firm on declarations of solidarity amid dwindling faith in formal treaties. He urged vigilance to carry out conference decisions, noting that declarations rather than treaties shaped the general political program. Hull spoke at a banquet hosted by President Benavides, as most delegates remained aboard the Santa Maria to avoid an early morning departure.
