Fingerprint clues aid city bank holdup investigation
Police unions, state and county officers pressed a statewide manhunt after a daylight bank robbery in St Joseph. The suspects forced J C Penney manager J M Goodman and an employee to drive to Steves and Waiters streets with about 2813 dollars in cash and 1587 in checks, then fled. An abandoned car at Kayton avenue and Nepal street was found within an hour as investigators sought prints from the steering wheel and federal records to identify the gunmen. Police speculated the bandits may have fled toward Campus Christi and could be hiding in a local residence as searches intensified.
