Paris report says Hitler, during a visit, may have witnessed a German patrol raid on a French outpost near Saarbrucken. The raid failed. German bodies, including an officer and two NCOs, were left behind.
San Francisco announces the 1940 Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island will open May 25 and run through September bo. Dates fixed at an executive meeting held yesterday.
In Mexico City on December 27 the chamber of deputies approved a bill making it a prison offense for retailers to sell staple foods at prices above government limits. The new law hikes penalties from fines to prison terms up to three years and moves to the senate for final approval.

Henry L. Doherty, founder of Cities Service and a noted engineer, died of bronchial pneumonia after years of arthritis. Doherty, a prominent figure in early utilities, died Tuesday night. Arthur De La Crus aged 33 suffered critical burns when he fainted by a fire at the William Deler Material yard at 1301 West Burmit Avenue. Fellow workers rushed to aid as flames scorched his clothing and legs. an ambulance was summoned.
Nebraska solon George Heinke and his wife were hospitalized after a snowstorm collision near Morriston Arkansas. One woman died and four were injured including Mr and Mrs Heinke with multiple fractures and facial injuries. Hospital attendants said both had good chances to recover.
City officials announced Thursday open house at city hall with Mayor Maury Maverick and inspector Benjamin K. Wyatt. The Los Pastores festival will be at 8:20 p m in front of San Fernando cathedral.
