Henry Joseph Lamm aged 68 and a 51 year San Antonio resident died Saturday at his home 31 Baylor street. Native of Comfort Texas he ran a fruit farm and belonged to St Josephs Society. Funeral Monday at 9 am Sizik Keamms parlors and 9 30 am at St Henrys Catholic Church with Mass. Interment in St Josephs Society cemetery. Pallbearers include Emil J. Lamm Emet H. Auto Driven Away After Crash at Dewey and San Pedro
Mrs. T. C. Georke reported a hit and run crash Saturday at Dewey Place and San Pedro Age 55 was injured by a motorist who fled the scene. She sustained a bump on the head and notified police.

Warning Given to a Drier Traffic Violators
Judge Phil Shook warned in Corporation court that violators who do not answer when called will be jailed until bond is posted. Officers will be told names of those failing to appear and held until a $23 bond is made. Court handles about 150 traffic cases daily as part of the War on speeders. Since December 6 about 1400 arrests have occurred with roughly 1000 paying an average $5 fine. Chief Kilday notes no traffic fatalities and few serious injuries since the campaign began. Police average 63 arrests daily.

Grandfather Held in Assault Attempt
Ed Reynolds aged 67, an old-age pension signer, was jailed in Stephens County Duncan awaiting trial on a charge of attempted assault against his 18 year old married granddaughter Pernie Bonella Rodgers. Rodgers said she repulsed him and dashed away after breaking a whisky bottle over his head. Reynolds admitted drinking and claimed ignorance of the incident.

The 1938 Wolff and Marx book essay contest, run by the San Antonio Public Library, named Joenne Hill age nine from Woodrow Wilson School as Group 1 first prize. Jenelle Ada from J. W. Knox School took second, Laura Phillips of Alamo Heights Elementary won third. In Group 2 ten to twelve years old, Wille Marie Luker twelve from Page Junior won first, Angeli Dorla and Barbara Cooper, both twelve, took second and third. Group 3 thirteen to sixteen saw Adeline Tuten fifteen win first, Jet Joy Maner fourteen second, Hernan Levin and Bryan Franklin both listed with prizes. Group 4 sixteen to eighteen awarded Sky Phillips eighteen from Carnate Ward High School second and Sam Osheroff seventeen from 128 Vitre Street third. Judges Mesdemes Amy Bowen, Lucy Care Nehan, and Anoyce Halil gave special commendations to several writers.
