Paris Aug 31 Robert Schuman will ask the national assembly to reinstate him as premier and form a new cabinet to end France crisis. Schuman plans a cabinet from Popular Republicans Socialist and Radical Socialist parties, excluding Communists and De Gaulle followers.

A A Berle told a House committee he viewed Hiss as a key unit in the 1944 appeasement faction led by Dean Acheson. Berle recounted fears over New Deal columnists backing the bloc and said his own career suffered after backing the allegations. He corroborated Chambers and named other New Deal aides as Red infiltration figures, noting Acheson vouched for the Hiss brothers before letting the matter drop.
Three tenants in apartments at 50B Rigsby avenue accused landlord E B Pate of overcharging rent by 358 dollars.
