American air and sea forces and units of the British Pacific fleet resumed training exercises today. British combat ships sailed from northern Honshu toward a rendezvous off central Honshu on September 1 with American naval units.
Major F. Benjamin Carlin, 35, and his wife Elmnore Arone, 31, arrived in Montreal aboard the tanker SS New Jersey after drifting for 10 days when their 24-foot amphibious craft developed engine trouble. The couple had been attempting a around the world voyage with a stop in the Azores, starting near New York in May.
