U S Jets Chase Red Planes over Indochina Skies
UPI reports a day of heavy air action across Indochina with U S and South Vietnamese forces engaging North Vietnamese MIG21s and bombers. Seven guided missiles struck at American aircraft while a ground attack in South Vietnam killed seven soldiers and wounded 23. The Americal Division faced the worst booby trap incident in over a year as U S helicopters were shot at, and plans for a major offensive near A Shau Valley faced withdrawal speculation amid mixed signals from Saigon.
