United Way drive gains momentum in Saline area

Saline Council Backing For Alternative Education Plan

A five member committee including educators, social workers, and a Saline police officer seeks to design an alternative education program for 7th through 12th graders with counseling and interagency coordination. Police Investigate Rear End Collisions in Saline

Police report half a dozen minor accidents in Saline last week mostly rear endings in parking lots. One Thursday night collision injured no one but damaged a 1971 Oldsmobile driven by 72 year old Howard Wentz of Adrian and a 22 year old Saline resident, Frederick Feldkamp Jr. The hit and run driver of a 1974 Hornet remains at large as police pursue leads from a witness and license plate.

Community Halloween Party in Saline draws big crowd

The Saline event on October 31 runs 7 to 8 p.m. at the Middle School with 1200 kids expected. Judy Carlton and Sharon Compton co chair a program by the Jaycees and Jaycee auxiliary including a haunted house, games, movies, and free cider and donuts.

Saline Police Department stages Officer Ghostly Safe Halloween puppet shows at Jensen Haughton and Union Schools through Friday. Officer Friendly reviews safety tips after each performance and distributes reflector tape treats to children. Prosecutor Finds No Charges in Two Fatal Local Crashes

Washtenaw County prosecutor cites insufficient evidence for serious charges in two downtown crashes. A 74 year old Ypsilanti man died after a pickup struck him as a 16 year old from Saline turned left. In the second crash 16 year old Karla Partain’s Pinto skidded on wet pavement and fatally struck a passenger in a stopped car after hitting a milk hauler.
