The Saline Area United Fund reports 42118 in pledges and cash, over 102 percent of its 40946 goal as of Nov 8, with under five reports pending. Rev Henry Yoder praises volunteers and notes funds will aid local, county and state agencies supported by the United Fund.

Fair Board elects leaders at Saline Community Fair meeting
Albert Gall was elected president of the Saline Community Fair Association at the annual meeting. Erwin Henes became vice president and Robert Tefft recording secretary with Roy Girbach as financial secretary and Webb Harwood as treasurer. The board set the 37th fair for Labor Day week 1972 and approved long list of director terms and new tasters. Gall noted increased workload and urged more FFA help. Treasurer Harwood reported record receipts of 20 448 88 and record expenditures 17 747 39 with net profit 2 701 49.

Saline City Council addresses Ford waste line and sewer upgrades
At a special council meeting, engineers presented a report on Ford plant wastewater in Saline. The council ordered a sewer line from the factory to the treatment plant and held authority to draft an ordinance tightening sewage standards while pursuing separate treatment for Ford wastes. Council also discussed fleet vehicle bids with the County Sheriff's Dept and zoning for local housing on Detroit and Davenport.
