Saline High Bands Shine at State Solo and Ensemble

Fourteen Sa line High School Band members attended the State Solo and Ensemble Festival in Kalamazoo. Eight earned first division ratings and six second division ratings, with no one below second. Notable honors include Rob Merchant trumpet solo and Katie Esch oboe solo earning first ratings, plus a first for a clarinet quartet and horn duet.

Livestock and Grain Burn in Free dom Township Barn Fire

A barn at 8951 Spiess road in Herman Spies farm and its contents were destroyed after a late Thursday fire blamed on a heating lamp. The loss included 300 chicks 28 pigs stored corn wheat oats straw and a tractor. A nearby milkhouse was partially destroyed and grass and shed fires followed earlier in the week with lightning cited for the shed fire.

Sue Washburn Named Delegate To National Youth Congress

Miss Sue Washburn daughter of Mr and Mrs George Washburn is named as Michigan's second FHA delegate to the National Youth Power Congress in Chicago. About 200 teens from across the nation will attend as the event aims to foster nutrition awareness and youth organization cooperation. In Saline FHA the Mother Daughter Banquet drew 140 attendees with Mrs Paul Woods Sr giving invocation and Miss Alana Frey delivering a chapter progress report.

Family reunion and Florida motor trip described

Mr and Mrs Sam Lambarth returned from a four thousand mile Florida journey calling it beautiful and enjoyable.
