Jay Starkey attended commencement exercises at Yale University for his brother in law. Dorothy Walker has been under the weather for more than a week with the flu and is back at work recovering from the bug.
The contract for St Pauls B and R Church Education Building goes to Ruben Finkbeiner of Saline with a low bid of 129925. Rev Alfred P Hardt says bids ranged up to 154000 while church leaders projected about 120000 with completion in 32 weeks. A congregational meeting is set for July 10 to decide member approval.
Mrs Maurice Henderson hosts the Federated Church Afternoon Circle on Tuesday July 5 at 1 30 PM Mrs L D Bracey chairing the business meeting and the lesson study titled The Hymnbook of the Bible Also under consideration is building a center court to be constructed alongside the circle project per Rev Mr Hardt remarks

Ernest Jaeger 78 died last Tuesday in Ridgewood Hospital Ypsilanti. Survived by Mary Ann Armbruster widow, son Walter, daughter Mrs Carl Braun, son Willard Schaible, three stepsons, four brothers, sister, two grandchildren, fourteen stepgrandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. Funeral held Thursday at Lockwood Funeral Home with Rev Henry McKenzie. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
The Westminster Fellowship group of Federated Church will meet at the church on Sunday July 3 at 3 p.m. for softball practice. They have challenged St. Paul’s Youth Group to a game the following Saturday. Both girls and boys will form the teams and a watermelon feed will follow.
David Labuda receives a Certificate of Merit in Farm Mechanics from the Thor Research Center for Better Farm Living of Marengo Illinois. The honor recognizes the senior at Saline High School for outstanding farm mechanics ability in shop equipment, machinery maintenance, and building projects. Selection is by vocational agriculture teacher Alton Ealy.

Next gathering is at Marcile Bauknecht's on June 30 1960. Art Braun has returned home after a second eye surgery at St Joseph hospital Ann Arbor.
