Michigan Meat Pricing Law Aims To Protect Shoppers
The state attorney general warns buyers of meat by carcass weight or primal cuts face 20 to 30 percent weight loss after trimming. Public Act 315 of 1972 requires sellers to disclose weight animal type and estimated delivered price per pound, both at sale and for cuts delivered. Violations are misdemeanors with civil damages available to consumers.
