Saline Community Fair plans unveiled for September 12 15
Final plans for the 1962 Saline Community Fair were approved at Saline High School. The fair book goes to press for August 15. Ray Girbach named assistant vice president for the fair week replacing Albert Gall as he tours Europe. WPAG’s Howard Heath will broadcast from the grounds. Events span Wednesday Children’s Day through Saturday Old Settlers’ Day with new divisions and increased prizes.

Ed Filsinger Dies Civil Defense Chief at 59
Edward A. Filsinger, Saline Township Civil Defense director and University of Michigan missile engineer, died early Sunday at St Joseph Mercy hospital after a brief illness. He was 59, had heart trouble, was readmitted after a second attack, and died at 6 a.m.

Services Held Monday for Henry Ormsby
Funeral services were held for Henry E. Ormsby 67 a longtime Saline civic leader and businessman. He owned a barbershop since 1916 and served as Fire Chief and helped push council and mayor reforms. He died Saturday at the Veterans hospital in Ann Arbor. He leaves a wife two sons a daughter twelve grandchildren and cousins. Burial was in Oakswood cemetery. Memorials may go to Saline Community hospital.

Principals Attend Chewing Match at Higgins Lake 1962
Dwight Reynolds and Elmer Hough ton attended the Principals Chewing Match hosted by the Michigan Association of Secondary School Principals at Higgins Lake Conservation School Roscommon Michigan from June 29 to July 1 1962. About 100 secondary school administrators attended the three day session to discuss issues in secondary education with Dr B Frank Brown of Melbourne High School Florida as featured speaker. Clothes Closet Gutted by Fire in Saline
Saline firemen were called to the apartment of Mrs. Wilma Whittman at 209 Henry Street at 11 30 pm Tuesday after a fire started in a clothes closet. The closet was gutted and contents destroyed as flames went through the ceiling before firefighters had it under control. No damage estimate was available.
