Brittains Win Jaycee First Prize for Decorated Home

The annual Jaycee contest awarded Frank Brittains of 351 Pond View first prize for the most beautifully decorated home this Christmas season. He received a plaque, with Bob Struble of 171 Circle Ct. taking second prize and a certificate of award from the Jaycee Auxiliary. Two Hit and Run Mishaps Appear On Police Docket

Saline police logged a quiet holiday weekend with key incidents including an arrest for leaving the scene of a property damage crash. Douglas V. Pustay, 18, of Ann Arbor was taken into custody after a 5 am January 1 crash on Henry Street. A separate Canterbury Street collision damaged a Wright car and a convertible top was slashed on Michigan Avenue, with damage about $100.

Saline Order of Eastern Star schedules initiation at 8 pm January 16 at the Masonic Temple with all matrons and patrons to be honored. A March of Dimes card party opens to the public January 28 at the O E S hall, 50 cents admission, proceeds to the campaign.

Mary Curtiss Recovers After Albion Accident

Mary Curtiss of 212 South Ann Arbor Street is recuperating from injuries from an Albion accident in mid December. She spent time in an Albion hospital and will be out of work for six months with Dr. Arnold Morana in Ann Arbor. She says recovery will be slow. She was riding motorized snow equipment at the time of the incident.

Saline's Christmas Tree Flight Captivates Town

Saline residents watched as a 250 foot airborne Christmas tree was released from a water tower. Pete O'Mara and Walt Moore supervised the stunt with Moore at the base ready to assist. The tree sailed smoothly through the air, sparing needles, while spectators endured debris from prior celebrations.

Council Meeting Postponed to January 9
