Saline Community Hospital Auxiliary presented a fibreoptic cystoscope to the hospital to aid diagnosis and treatment. The group, known for fundraising through bake sales bazaars and its Smorgasbord event, has funded equipment and patient conveniences, including new facilities and amenities.
City engineers and officials discussed restoring the Saline millpond dam near US-12 at a Thursday meeting. A plan lowering the dam lip and rebuilding the dike aims to improve runoff capacity with an estimated cost near 30 000 dollars, slated for March 2 council discussion.

The Saline Jaycees announce a town meeting Thursday at 7 30 p m in the Little Theatre Saline High School on YMCA services. Jaycee member notes the project will need broad town and organizational help to succeed. A movie on the YMCA will precede a Q A session with the Ann Arbor YMCA team. Present are Lewis W Bodley director Don Stetson physical director and Mrs Chalmer Elliott board member.
Two amendments to the Senior Citizens Home stead Tax Exemption Act broaden eligibility. 1970 applicants may earn up to 6000 dollars and still qualify, and the property cash value limit is removed. Police Chief Jim Leveille announced tougher rules due to more complaints in a growing community. Enforcement will target dogs at large noise violations squealing tires speeding especially in residential areas abandoned cars improper parking and related issues.
Two women were hurt in a Saturday morning crash on Liberty Road just east of Wagner Road in Scio Township. Elizabeth S. Robinson, 40, of 26 Tower Drive, and Elma K. LaRoe, 20, of Ann Arbor, were treated at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
Police Chief James Levlett presented Saline's annual crime report showing 50.9 percent higher rates than comparable cities and 11.25 percent above the national average. Eight major crimes, including 11 aggravated assaults and 63 burglaries, surpass averages. Offenses rose 19 percent citywide. total incidents up 36.5 percent. arrests up 29 percent.
The First Baptist Church of Saline starts construction of a new 75 000 plus dollar building on a five acre site along Saline Ann Arbor Road in Lodi Township. Groundbreaking at noon Sunday follows an 11 a.m. service. Rev Merle R Meeden leads the church which began in 1966 with Michigan Baptist Convention help.
