Scouts Build Klondike Sled for Kensington Camp-Out

The Boy Scouts crafted an Alaskan style dog sled for a Klondike event at Kensington Metropolitan Park. With no snow, the project faced delays but the sled was completed awaiting a team of sled dogs to operate as a future taxi service during the next blizzard.

Snow Superfluity Makes Winter ’67 One for the Books

Salinians faced predictions of more snow as DPW crews worked around the clock but streets stayed only partly cleared. Hundreds of truckloads were dumped at the sewage plant with City Administrator Mike Strait warning of dwindling dumping space.

Saline hospital to acquire own blood bank and upgrades

Saline Community Hospital will install a 56 unit blood bank with a secure refrigerator and alarm. The Hospital Auxiliary funds a $550 unit, plus $800 in surgical instruments and a $200 wall mounted TV. Plans include room TVs with pillow speakers and eventual in room installations. An Ann Arbor Secretary of State representative will sell 1967 license plates February 11 at Steele Dodge Sales.

Boy Scouts Set Court of Honor This Week

Local Scouts observe Boy Scout Week with a 6 30 p.m. potluck dinner Tuesday at the Junior High School gym. The Court of Honor follows at 7 30 p.m. and is open to scouts and families.

Bubble Trouble Snowed Out Delays Band Frolics

The annual Band Frolics musical Bubble Trouble faced weather chaos postponing shows to February 8 9 and 11. Poor roads hindered rehearsals and more snow was forecast. The fund raising show supports the high school band trip to summer camp directed by David Walter Malcolm Danforth and student Janet Riemer.

Retirement Fete Honors Muir in Ann Arbor

About 50 officials former officials neighbors and friends attended a retirement dinner for E J Muir known as Bill in Ann Arbor Monday night. He left the city staff this month after 15 years as clerk treasurer and received a gold calendar watch and a plaque. Mayor George Johnson presented the gifts while guests included four former mayors and leaders dating to 1930. Muir became clerk treasurer in 1952 and the party, postponed from Friday due to a blizzard, featured reminiscences and a duet.

Ronald Allen Milkey was born January 28 at Saline Community Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Steve Milkey of Pleasant Lake Road. The mother is Lois Arms. Mothers March Sets New High in Giving Here

Members of the Child Study Club and friends raised $1,037.50 for the Mothers’ March of Dimes on Tuesday evening, shattering prior records and bringing Saline’s total to $1,792. About 45 women participated, starting at 7 p.m. and finishing around 12:30 a.m. A police escort accompanied the group to the bank after counting proceeds at Mrs. Ormond Jedele’s home.

Burned-Out Millers Find Home in City

The Miller family left homeless by a Willow Rd fire found shelter and help after a Nazarene Church dinner shower. They received linen, clothing, bedding, four beds and furniture, with beds delivered to 238 Ann Arbor St. The family of seven moved in after two hectic weeks of local aid.
