Wheaton College Concert Duo Performs in Saline

The Wheaton College Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Singers under Arthur Katterjohn perform in Saline at 7:30 p.m. in the high school theater. The 53 member orchestra and 21 member choir tour Michigan and Ontario with a free will offering to cover travel. Admission is free with lodging arranged by local Band Parents. Katterjohn is an alumnus and longtime Illinois music educator.

Saline Area United Fund reports excess beyond goal

The Saline Area United Fund achieved 119 percent of its 40 946 dollar goal raising 48 827 26 with an excess of 7 881 26 to be allocated by the board in January. Campaign chair Rev Henry O Yoder led efforts with members across divisions including Industry Residential Hospital Schools and Clergymen among others.

Pittsfield Planning Group Rejects Heavy Industry Rezoning

Pittsfield Township Planning Commission denied a 38 acre rezoning request from agricultural to heavy industry along Michigan Ave due to surrounding farmland, inadequate utilities, and traffic concerns. The proposal, by J D Clark Co of Ypsilanti for a ready mix cement plant, now moves to the Washtenaw County Planning Commission for recommendation before a final township board decision likely by late February.

Hospital Auxiliary to Host January Meeting with Guest Dr Vander Yacht

Saline Hospital Auxiliary invites members and prospective joiners to a January 18 gathering at 8 p.m. hosted by Mrs. Esther Gross 239 Higgland Drive. Dr. W C Vander Yacht will speak as the social committee coordinates activities and fundraising supports hospital equipment and patient amenities.
