Saline Post Office Sets Christmas Hours
Saline Postmaster Clarke Gordon announced special hours for Friday and Saturday of Christmas week. The post office will be closed both days with no deliveries, city or rural. The lobby opens December 26 from 2 30 to 4 30 for boxholders.
Saline junior group hosts public meeting on children learning
The Saline Junior Child Study Club will hold an 8 p.m. meeting at Saline High School Library to discuss Children and Learning. Beverly Scott will speak and show learning aids, identify learning problems, and advise parents on preschool motor activities to boost readiness. A motor skills program for Saline preschoolers runs at Saline Storybook Gardens Nursery School taught by Eva Swenarton.

Jaycees Drop Annual Yule Decorating Contest
Saline Jaycees announced they will discontinue the annual Christmas home decorating contest sponsored for years. The decision followed a Monday night meeting and cites that the same participants have taken part for years and overall participation has not grown.

Memorial tribute for Dr John D Buck retired physician and civic leader
Dr John D Buck 83 died Sunday at Saline Community Hospital near Mills Rd after a life in medicine and public service. He moved to Saline in 1951, served on the City Council 1960 1 year and as Justice of the Peace 1957 60. Born Nov 6 1887 in Schoolcraft Michigan he married Margaret Rush in 1916. He held medical and military roles from WWI through WWII, serving with the National Guard and alongside Gen Douglas MacArthur. Cremation followed funeral service at Bahn Miller Funeral Home with memorials to the hospital or Michigan Heart Association.
