Saline Supervisor Reports on Wash Tenaw Parks Plan
County Supervisor Robert Harrison told the council about the proposed Wash Tenaw county parks system and urged cooperation to make it self sustaining after ten years. Voters will decide on September 12 about a 144 mill tax to fund the parks, with about 2 million expected over the decade. County Planning Director Robert Carpenter says most funds will buy land as development is deferred. Existing facilities are overcrowded, and development in Saline Raisin Valleys and eastern county is seen as underdeveloped. Harrison expressed cautious support and concerns about some aspects.
