Work on the new Saline Savings Bank branch on E Michigan is stopped after a one man picket began August 17 by the Electricians Union. Non union plumbers and electricians are affected as deliveries are blocked because truck drivers won t cross the line. Bank says local contractors were used where possible.

Saline United Fund Approves 1971 Budget Cut
Saline United Fund board approved a 1971 budget of 39 023 at a Tuesday meeting at the Presbyterian Church. Agencies requested 50 531, but the board backed a smaller total. Saline Library received 6 550 for books and 5 050 for maintenance and improvements. Mrs Sybil Ellis resigned as secretary and co chair of the 1970 campaign. The Ellis family moves to Mt Pleasant as Mr Ellis becomes VP at Central Michigan University. Paul Thibault named acting secretary.

Unlawful Entry Charged In Saline City Arrest
Saline police jailed 36 year old Thomas Brainard of Monroe for unlawfully entering a Harris Street apartment through a window Tuesday night. He will be arraigned in District Court Thursday morning and was released on bond.

Road paving near Saline Ann Arbor Rd nearing finish
County highway engineer Clare Hoedeman says Saline Ann Arbor Rd from the High School to Wagner Rd is two thirds paved. One more asphalt layer remains then shoulder and ditch work may extend into fall. Blacktopping should finish in about a week if weather holds while one lane traffic control remains during re paving.

New Baby Born to Mr and Mrs Dosch in California
