St Andrew's Confirms Mass in Detroit Parish

Fires At Sanch Residence and Ford Plant In Saline
The Roy Sanch home at 870 Austin Rd burned Tuesday evening, gutting the first floor and damaging the second. Saline Fire Department fought the fire for two and a half hours and returned Wednesday morning to quell smoldering debris. A separate blaze at the Ford Motor Company plant on E Michigan Ave started by a spark from an electric drill was contained by the plant’s fire team before Saline crews arrived. Douglas Hartman, 27, of Pinckney, suffered minor burns and was hospitalized at St Joseph Mercy.

Farm Council Plans 90 Acre Expansion Near Ann Arbor
Washtenaw Farm Council voted to buy 20 acres adjacent to its Saline Ann Arbor Road grounds, doubling event space. Harold Zahn, owner, has rented it for overflow parking. council has funds for a down payment and plans a life membership drive to reduce debt. A finance committee will meet next Monday to finalize fundraising.

City to buy Hosmer lot for walkway to center
After weeks of negotiation Councilman George Anderson and Mrs. Oscar Hosmer signed an option to purchase a lot south of the Hosmer residence on April 7 at City Hall. The city plans to exercise the option and buy the lot later this month to create a walkway linking southeast Saline housing with the Saline Community Center on Monroe Street.
