Fiftieth Anniversary of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church

Sunday September 17 marked the fiftieth anniversary of the church’s present edifice. Begun in 1871 and dedicated in 1872, the congregation formed by German immigrants and has seen pastors Doerfler Mueller Lederer Albrecht Hertler Lederer Maas. The Ladies Aid bought a new altar pulpit and plates, and a pulpit Bible was donated by Mrs. Caroline Guenther. Speakers included Rev. J Albrecht Rev. Edwin Hertler Rev. Rudolph Lederer and Rev. A Maas.

Mrs Jennie Humphrey Mis Sumner Mills Dies in Saline

Jennie Mis born May 31 184? to Russell and Marcia Sumner Mills in Union district west of Saline. She married Hubert Humphrey in 1867, lived in New York City and Detroit, husband died 1809. She suffered a stroke on July 4 and died September 15 1922 in Saline. Funeral at G C Townsend home conducted by Rev Ralph Brown with Rev W H Hoffman. Interment Oakwood cemetery beside her husband.

Welfare Club Meeting at Mrs Stella Kelley Home

Welfare ladies met last Thursday at Mrs Stella Kelley s home with about thirty members attending. After dinner the business session included a form for the hostess and the next meeting set with Mrs Ernest Robison. A voter message thanks Washtenaw County for campaign support for Prosecuting Attorney nomination.
