Polio Care Costs in Washtenaw County
Washtenaw County spent 60125 on polio patient care and operations in the 12 months ending June 30 this year. The chapter reported a July 1 1955 balance of 13767 and 1954 balance of 31670. Receipts totaled 73982 from the Emergency and regular campaigns. two thirds funded vaccine work and National Foundation HQ. The county kept one third of emergency funds and half of regular campaign funds 34982 with the rest to the foundation. Other income included a 25000 advance from the National Epidemic Aid Fund and 2832 in hospital refunds. 96 hospitalized patients and 810 outpatients used 57312 of revenue. Man receives 100 cigars for 100th birthday party
A Council Bluffs resident, Mr. Martin Wakehouse, celebrated his 100th birthday with railroad colleagues who fulfilled a promise by presenting him 100 cigars. Earlier he had been honored with 50 cigars last year. A separate note mentions a 660 bushel corn crop removing about 95 pounds of nitrogen per acre.
