About two thousand attended the final concert of the season with prize drawings funded by local car and professional men. A $110 band purse was built from a $71 collection plus $39 previously. Main prize went to Mrs. Leon Bondie. several individuals received cash or prizes such as a bedspread from Burkhart's store.

Fire destroyed the barn silo two tool sheds a chicken coop and more on the Carl Smith farm north of Saline. Nine hogs and four calves burned, another calf likely to die. Loss includes grain drill plow planter mill hay and hens. Saline fire department and neighbors saved the house. some stock removed.

Yorkwin White Wheat Introduced to Michigan Farms
Michigan to grow Yorkwin a beardless white wheat from Cornell University tests by Michigan State College over four years in 1942 trials showed slightly higher yields than American Banner and better smut resistance though with lighter straw. Seed production will begin this fall via the Michigan Crop Improvement Association from New York stock. Millers praise Yorkwin for pastry baking cookies and cereals and warn farmers planting winter wheat to avoid Hes sian fly dates.

Jameson Lee Wedding Unites Thelma Lee and J Robert Jameson
A quiet wedding was held Saturday evening September 5 at 8 o'clock. Thelma Lee daughter of Paul Lee and the late Mrs Lee and J Robert Jameson son of Mr and Mrs Pierce Jameson Linden were married by Rev Fred Lendrum at the bride's home. The bride wore a white marquisette satin gown with fingertip veil. Attendants included sister Mrs William Arthur and brother in law Dr Fred Jameson served as best man. Fifty guests attended a buffet reception. The couple departed for Augusta Georgia for a visit with relatives and plan to reside locally. The bride is a Saline High School graduate and the groom a University of Michigan alumnus.
