Results of Primary Election Marked by Light Voter Turnout

Statewide primaries saw unusually light voting on Tuesday with Republicans tallying 125 votes locally. Saline results show GOP counts across offices led by Governor Campbell with 41, Lieutenant Governor Reed 63, and other races including Michener 101 in Congressional and Balser 33 versus Fahrner 83 for Prosecuting Attorney.

Saline Township Drain Proposal Hearing Notices 1920

On August 14 1920 an application was filed for a drain in Saline Township Washtenaw County Michigan. A public hearing will be held September 1920 at George Schumacher’s residence to decide if the proposed drain is necessary and to determine the lands liable for assessments.

Daring Hold Up West of Saline Targeting Tourists

A couple from Elkhart Indiana traveling to Detroit in a Studebaker were stopped by four young men near Saline on Clinton road at 5 am Tuesday. The thieves fired grazing the driver and wounded the woman, robbing coats slips and $450 before fleeing when a wire broke and an oncoming car frightened them. Dr Morden treated the woman, and the couple returned home. The bandits are described as about 22 years old.

End of Trout Season and Outlook for Waterfowl

The season closed September 1 after a storm disrupted fishing and restocking has continued for years. Ducks to follow include mallards in Michigan with protections for wood ducks until 1924. Open duck season runs September 16 to December 31. Geese fed on local wheat last year. quail remains closed until next year and may see an extended season.

Rural carriers get pay raise and new benefits

Rural mail carriers in Saline area receive a 100 dollar increase on standard 24 mile routes, with a maximum of 2150 dollars for 36 mile routes. They gain sick leave of ten days per year, cumulative to three years, and a vacation of one and one quarter days per month of service.

Judd Reunion Draws About Two Hundred At School Grounds

About 200 people gathered at the Judd school grounds for the eighth Judd association reunion. After dinner in the schoolhouse, B F Gooding led a prayer, the Loveland Millar orchestra performed, and Miss Florene LeBaron sang. Eleven lines list mourners, attendees from distant towns, and many local names.
