The Hornets close their season with a 9 game schedule finishing three wins and five losses plus one non league game. A highlight was the 6 to 0 upset of Dundee Vikings. Saline and Dundee details and late scoring by Wojicki noted.
Two Michigan FFA members earned national recognition at the Kansas City convention. Elwood Mellinger of Ithaca received the American Farmer Degree while Paul Wolf of Dansville served as official delegate alongside Darwin Williams of Dansville. Michigan delegates reported leading in waste paper collection and the event focused on war effort support through farming and salvage programs.
Rationing will occur November 18 19 and 20 at the school with specific hours each day. Drivers must register for an A card by completing forms from gasoline stations and presenting them at the school. If more gas is needed than A permits, request forms from the registrar. An Information Center will assist at Saline and later announce the site. B or C card applications go to the Ann Arbor rationing board for action.
A brief thanks from Mrs. Harry Friis to friends for letters cards gifts and flowers during her hospital stay. The note adds a demographic detail about the New Hebrides ratios of about 150 males to 100 females.

Defense workers seek eye exams with glasses fitted if needed to secure defense work. Dr. Frank Gifford, Toledo Optometrist, has practiced in Milan ten years. Office at Milan Hotel, upstairs. Saturdays 2:30 to 9:45 p.m.
Dr G J Prout gave a vocational talk at the Rotary Club meeting at The Tavern last Thursday noon. He outlined medical training from premed through medical school and internships, citing the oath of Hippocrates and the lengthy path to practice. Rotarian Hughes Holland of Milan attended as a guest.
The Observer notes its birthday anniversary and marks 30 years since the present publisher began in Saline. It recalls veteran local business figures, bank personnel, and a long sequence of newspaper ventures across Michigan, Ohio, and Oklahoma, ending with the North Adams Advocate led by Warren C. Bowers.
Miss Mary Murray, longtime worker among western Indians, speaks Sunday at 7:45 p.m. at the Federated Church. Her address covers western experiences and current Detroit trailer camp work, with motion pictures. All are invited to attend.
Nov 7 report shows scarce acorns pushing deer numbers high with Conservation officers counting over 300 deer in a field near Mio and Fairview. One Fairview farm saw a cabbage patch completely cleaned out in a single night.

The council chaired by Mayor Alwin Gross met November 2 1942 with present Councilmen Schroen Haarer Schleh Lambarth. Minutes were approved and rails removal on Michigan Avenue authorized. Bills of 1417.51 approved and payments ordered. Adjournment followed. The council reconvened November 5 to canvass election votes yielding Haarer 384 Lange 255 Gillen 257 Lange 255 with Gross and Wallace signing.
Michigan's deer hunting season will not start early to align with gasoline rationing proposals. Director Hoffmaster said the season runs November 15 to 30 by law, with changes needing legislative action. He noted rationing dates mid November could disrupt the season without new law.
Mrs. Raymond Ott and her infant daughter returned home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Hoeft welcomed a son born Thursday Nov. 5. Harvey Matherson of Milan had a tonsillectomy Monday. Mrs. George W. Barr is improving and able to be up in a chair.
