A year’s record shows 102 tornadoes floods and other disasters prompting Red Cross relief for 93 000 people. Veterans and dependents number 220 000 assisted. 35 000 service members helped with personal and family problems. Safety training reached 82 000 Life Savers and 276 000 First Aiders. Public health and home care programs aided a million sick persons, 610 000 children examined, 2 265 highway aid stations operated.
