Veterans Administration in Detroit saw April GI loan activity rise with 3 325 home appraisal requests the highest since August 1955 and 1 601 loan applications from lenders. The increases reflect a 13 percent rise from March and a 37 percent jump in appraisal totals.
Due to improved price and supply conditions the Agricultural Department will terminate the Irish Potato diversion program at midnight May 31 local time. The program now operates only in Oregon Northern California Idaho Maine and a three county area in Pennsylvania. Since fall payments were made to growers and participants for diverting potatoes into starch or feed the department reports 12 million bushels of low grade potatoes diverted through May 12 and about six million 600 thousand bushels of call potatoes diverted under the program.

The June meetings of Federated Church Women's Circles will be held on Tuesday June 5. Devotional topics come from Ephesians and program topics focus on Indian Americans completing a five month series on Missionary work. The afternoon circle meets at 1:00 at the home of Mrs Ferman and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Thursday with Rev Alvin Siemsen officiating. Burial followed at Marble Park Cemetery Milan.
Ruth A. Lutz, daughter of Mr and Mrs Arthur J Lutz of Route one and a Hillsdale College freshman, was invited into Kappa Delta Chi, the college Protestant religious group. Clements 2515 Textile Road hosts a Circle meeting hosted by Mrs George Austin with a Fancy Hat Party scheduled for 8:00 PM. Mrs John Geddes leads program. Circle members attend the evening activities.
