Wild cat money papered hall in historic Michigan farm house
In Washtenaw County a hallway of the Fosdick farm is said to be wallpapered with money from the 1830s wild cat banks. The piece recounts how illicit currency issued by Michigan banks spread, collapsed after banker Alpheus Felch exposed the fraud, and left debtors impoverished. The Fosdick hall displays five three and one dollar notes unseen elsewhere.
