Pershing recounts early A E F formation and French alliance
General Pershing describes his 1917 arrival in Paris and Boulogne, meeting President Poincare and Marshal Petain, the push to form an American army, and the tension over British shipping. He notes French morale, Red Cross plans, and the first division’s arrival at St Nazaire with Admiral Gleaves coordinating convoys.
