Saline History Told by Pioneer Day Womans Club
The Saline Womans club held a Pioneer Day program at the M E church parlors with tableaux on early Saline history. Miss Anna Jewett’s paper on The History of Saline was read by Mrs. Fred Burkhart, followed by Civil War and World War tableaux and a flag salute. The narrative then shifts to recounting early settlers, taverns, mills, schools, churches, and community growth from 1824 onward, including Risdon’s platting in 1832 and the village’s 1866 incorporation.
