Prominent Citizen Edward Henne Dies Suddenly
Edward Henne, long-time manager of the local telephone company and a key community figure, died suddenly last Wednesday at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital after weeks of illness. Born in Saline in 1887, he led the Saline Rotary Club, served as city clerk and board of education president, and was active in Federated church life. Funeral services were held at the Federated church with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. he is survived by his wife, daughter Doris Jean, his mother, and several aunts.

Jacob Birkle 77 dies after long illness in Ann Arbor
Jacob Birkle a former Lodi township clerk died Sunday at his Ann Arbor home after a two year illness. Born June 5 1861 in Lodi he served as township clerk for 40 years before retiring to farming and moving to Ann Arbor. He leaves a sister a nephew and a niece. Funeral services were held Tuesday with Rev Theodore Schmale officiating and burial at Lodi Plains cemetery.

Resolutions Adopted by Michigan School Board Members
Michigan education leaders adopted resolutions urging $44,000,000 yearly state school aid, rapid passage of bills to aid districts with building needs, protections against aid cuts, a deficiency appropriation for tuition and transportation, a constitutional amendment to extend the 15 mill bonding limit to 15 years, and authorization for boards to borrow up to 25 percent of operating budgets. The Lansing meeting of March 16 drew about 1,250 attendees and passed all measures unanimously except item five, which narrowly passed.

Two Amendments to be Voted On in Upcoming Ballot
Two proposed constitutional amendments will appear on the next election ballot. Amendment No 1 makes primary elections and certain judicial posts nonpartisan with petitions due early. Saline topped Milan 20 to 10 in Milan last Tuesday, while Milan previously fell 45 to 2 on home floor. The Saline team noted Milan played better on its own court. last Thursday the chapter held an annual round-up at Ypsi with initiation, games, swimming, and a meal for 25 cents.
