Farm electrification brings Detroit Edison plan to farmers
The Detroit Edison Company describes the Michigan Plan to finance farm line extensions, cutting costs from $3000 to under 500 per mile. The program enables farmers to share as few as five customers per mile, with the company covering remaining capital when fewer buyers exist. Aluminum wire with steel core allows longer spans, reducing tree trimming and outage risks. Michigan’s heritage and ten years of rural electrification are highlighted.
