Silver Cup Awarded In Winter Egg Race

The Inter national Egg Laying Contest at Michigan State College awarded the silver cup to W. C. Eckard of Paw Paw for producing 840 eggs from November 1 to March 1 with White Leghorns. W. A. Downs of Washington finished a close second, 4.6 points behind. The contest uses a point system weighing egg count and egg weight, with standard sizes guiding breeders toward marketable eggs. A Holstein bull at Ben Allen’s farm attacked him, injuring him with broken ribs and bruises, while the bull, usually docile, caused the incident in a stallyard. Brooklyn Exponent.
