The Washtenaw County Farm Bureau annual meeting was held at Federated Church with a dinner served by church ladies. Officers elected were President Fermn Clements, Vice President Bert Amrhein, and Secretary-Treasurer Gordon Gill, all of Ypsilanti, with 818 members reported.

Federated Church Hosts Missionary Speaker Roy Lautenschlager

The Federated Church will welcome missionary Rev. Roy Lautenschlager this Sunday at 10:30 during the pastor’s absence. Lautenschlager, a Presbyterian missionary to East China, spent months in a concentration camp and was repatriated recently aboard the Gripsheim. He previously worked as an educational worker for the Presbyterian Foreign Mission Board. The 7:45 p.m. service will be led entirely by the church’s young people with two speakers, others leading songs, reading Scripture, and praying. All are invited.

Marauder Bludgeons Attendant at Hooft Service Station

Leo Ferwitt, an attendant at the Hooft Service Station, was struck by a marauder with a blackjack in the early morning. The assailant fled in a green car after asking for the boss, described as about 23 years old, 5 feet 9, 175 pounds, wearing a tan hat and fingertip-length coat.

Chairman Burkhardt sent to Lansing for films loaned by the conservation department. Rotarians at The Tavern heard Alwin Gross on the projector. One film showed ducks geese and white swans while the other depicted beavers at work with their dam building and repair activities.

Emanuel J. Elsasser Dies in Ann Arbor at 81

Emanuel J. Elsasser aged 81 died Sunday night at his Ann Arbor home after a brief illness. Born June 17, 1862 in Wurttemberg Germany he came to Ann Arbor at 18 and lived there except for years in Saline and Dexter. A retired carpenter he was a Bethlehem Evangelical and Reformed Church member. Survived by wife Emilie Scholep two grandchildren a daughter Mrs Carl Hodge of Ann Arbor a sister Mrs Christine Hertler of Saline and a son Oscar who died in 1928. Funeral was held Wednesday at 2 30 p m with Bethlehem Cemetery interment.

Mrs Eva C Morgan Dies In Ann Arbor After Illness

Mrs Eva C Morgan daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Cressey longtime Saline residents died Saturday at her Ann Arbor home after a six week illness. Born February 5 1882 in Pittsfield township she lived in Ann Arbor 20 years and is survived by two sons two sisters two brothers and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday with Maj R C Hill of the Salvation Army officiating and she was buried in London cemetery near Milan.
