Housing crunch hinders veterans as costs soar in postwar era
In Washington, a housing analysis shows almost 5 million families seek homes with only 25 percent likely to find them this year. Home costs have roughly doubled since 1940, with typical prices around 11 000 to 12 000 and most veterans able to pay no more than 50 dollars monthly. Priority programs aim to direct materials to veteran housing and enable lower cost homes under 10 000, but many veterans risk exclusion from the market.
