Students Lead Growth of SHS Band Program

Mr Katterjohn initiated a school wide drive for new band recruits at SHS. About 40 beginners joined, performed at the Spring Concert as the Cadet Band, and more 35 to 40 beginners were drawn from the fourth grade. Summer day classes are planned with 8–9 fourth graders per session. The school purchased instruments to rent to beginners for a year. The Senior Band emphasizes quality over size and hopes to connect with finer state bands in time. Attendance at summer concerts is encouraged.
