Round Rock Find Pushes Clock Back for North American Antiquity

Texas scientists report ancient flint artifacts and hearth remains from a Bush River terrace near Round Rock buried as deep as eighteen feet. Professor J E Pearce and Dr B H Sellards of the University of Texas call the evidence strong, suggesting humans occupied North America far earlier than previously thought, possibly 10 000 to 20 000 years earlier, though uncertainty remains about Ice Age dating. The find adds weight to debates over early American habitation and may necessitate revising established antiquity timelines.
