Teachout house fire injures nine workers
A fire broke out Monday morning at the Teachout house south of Saline Valley Farms Inc. Occupied by nine workers, the blaze forced relocation of Dan Mills and family from the construction area. Fire officials suspect chimney sparks caused the fire. Saline fire department responded with valiant service.

Governor Orders Eight Day Bank Closures In Michigan
Governor Com stock declares banks in Detroit and major cities must close for eight days due to severe conditions facing the Guardian group of banks. Independents Split Results in Two Week Games
The Independent basketball teams played two games last week. In Chelsea the Saline squads fell to St. Mary's church teams on a slick court with overall weak play. The first team lost 30 to 25 while the second team went down 18 to 13. The next night Vandercook Lake edged Saline 38 to 36 as Keubler led the second team with 12 points and Schmid matched him on the first team with 12. Townley led the Lakers with 12 as well, the first team now seven wins and four losses with a 352 to 324 scoring margin, and a forthcoming tournament in Ypsilanti looms.
