National downtrend in dairy prices leads to a wholesale Class I milk cut in the Detroit Market from 5.00 to 4.71 per hundredweight effective February 1. Howard F. Simmons of the Michigan Milk Producers Association says the move should stabilize retail milk prices and curb consumer confusion. Butter and cheese prices also fell in January, influencing fluid milk costs, with further drops in Chicago and nearby markets impacting Michigan.
