The Saline Library Association held its 48th annual meeting on Friday January 14 1944 at the library. Officers were elected for the coming year and committees formed. Saline School Band Campaign For Fourteenth Bond Drive
Saline school launched a Fourth Loan drive led by its marching band with a $15,000 goal to fund a Fairchild training plane. Parade banners urged bonds, and after the event the town canvass raised totals to $9,840.86 with plans for a grand entertainment and bond rally.

Death of Dr. H Gildard in Dearborn Veterans Hospital
Dr. Harry Gildard a chiropractor with two years in Brooklyn died January 19 at the Dearborn Veterans Hospital after a month of treatment. Born March 6, 1876 in Mantau Ohio he was a Spanish American War veteran. He practiced in Cleveland Saline Mich and Jackson before moving to Brooklyn. Survived by widow Carrie two daughters Mrs. James E. Truesdale Flint and Mrs. Harold R Wall Cleveland five grandchildren one brother Harlow E Gildard Ypsilanti. Funeral service was held Sunday at Worthington funeral home with Rev Richard Baker and Rev R C Montague officiating burial in North Adams Cemetery.
