Local residents share holiday visits and club events

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Karner and daughter Sandra vacationed in Detroit and Dundee. Santa arrived at Ann Arbor Airport as many visited him downtown. A Saw Line Chapter Eastern Star meeting was postponed to January. Numerous bridge and card club gatherings, Christmas services, and family visits were reported across Saline, Plymouth, and Washtenaw County.

County Corn King Earns DeKalb Prize in 1948 Contest

Ernst wins the County Corn King plaque for the largest officially checked yield in the National DeKalb Selected 5-Acre Contest. The eleventh annual event saw 5200 farmers from 22 states and Canada. Hoeft placed second with 96.350 bushels and Harwood third with 88.53 bushels. Prizes will be awarded by DeKalb Agricultural, Inc.
