Bread price rise blamed on wheat tax claims
Government experts say the processing tax adds only one quarter of the two cent loaf rise. Wheat farmers earned 88 cents a bushel in October 1934 versus 32 cents in February 1933, while bread costs rose two cents. Part of the increase supports bakers and farming costs, with farmer contracts yielding about 1.10 per bushel for wheat.

Milk Shortage? Parents Skip Fluid Milk Purchases
Consumers counsel Dr. Fred C. Howe reports 14 percent of 291,485 families in 59 cities bought no whole milk, not due to lack of money. He warns skipped milk harms child growth and long term health, noting milk's protection and delivery costs raise its price beyond production cost.
